The Abstract Macro Photographer
This spring, my mindset on what is beautiful about flowers has changed as my macro photography skill morphed into something that I did not imagine. My hand has become very steady, I have learned to work with the wind, when conditions are not in my favor & I now use rain to my advantage.
Lately, I have been finding the beauty in what makes flowers beautiful & have been loving my discoveries inside, and around blooms.
I don’t post many floral shots here but I have flooded my Flickr page with them & I have been enjoying the responses to my abstract macro floral shots,
Here are a few from today that I took after I walked my mother through my gardens. She managed to get me to give her a few things but some thing I just could not part with, such as my “flame” calla lilies.

Yeah. Breath taking!
Again, Mother Nature has her moments...
I assume that in photography macro refers to either a type of lens or the fact that such close shots makes things bigger in scale. Otherwise I am confused...

I am so inspired!!
A friend gifted me with a digital camera because I am going on a cruise to Alaska at the end of the week...
I am not sure if I can take anything even close to the beauty you capture, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Any tips for a newbie??

Thx so much for your comments!
TSSE - Macro photography allows one to get within an inch or so from the subject to expose details not easily seen with a nor more photo or eye in general.
AnnaC - Very nice friend & lucky you. Alaska will be beautiful this time of year.
Most if not all digital point & shoot cameras do everything for you, all you have to do is hit the go button.
One thing that I suggest is getting to know the setting. If it has setting for specific type scenes, I would use them accordingly. I would also suggest getting the largest capacity memory card possible so that you can capture as much as possible without running out of space. EXTRA BATTERIES and experiment, experiment experiment. I learned a lot of what I know by trial and error & it has been a productive journey.
I hope you enjoy the cruise & hope you post photos!!!!

Wow! I wanted that to be my only comment, but I couldn't let it stand alone, since I enjoy photography and have been attempting in the past to just the very thing with flowers. I hate taking pictures of flowers and such, but I figured if I got close enough I could make it interesting for me. Nice to know someone got it right.

Torrance - Me too, flowers are much more fun & challenging to photo than people & sometimes things. The sad thing is that the fun only last a for a few short months.
OMO - Oh yeah, the closer you get the more you see and it becomes not the standard photo of a flower. Leaves more to the imagination!!!
Sunsail - I know yall aint taking my stuff!!! LOL. No it is all goo. Tell me which one you like best & what size your monitor is & I will email it to you. You can post a comment or hit me up privately. This goes for anyone else.
But when I get famous, don't think I will still be hooking niggas up. OK!!! LOL
