Bygbaby Cooks: Purple Artichokes
To follow up to my “Getting Broke & Finding Inspiration” post, here are a few shots from tonight’s dinner, which featured the purple artichokes. Suite Suzy found a pretty easy recipe online today so we gave it a go.
Basically, cut the stem & top of the artichoke off, cut off the top of each outer petal then rinse thoroughly under running water. Once clean drop into salted boiling water, add a few lemon wedges. Lastly, boil for 45 minutes.

Once boiled, drain artichokes and spoon butter/margarine over the top of the artichoke. When butter is melted & the artichoke is cooled, serve. I chose to cut it in half & added salt & pepper to taste.

I also prepared my famous garlic fried chicken strips and Basmati rice to complete the meal.

I went to Whole Wallet today and was bummed to see that we don't have purple artichokes. I did get a green one, thinking of you.
I read a story where a woman divorced her no-good husband. The last straw was when she tasted an artichoke heart. For 15 years, he "sacrificed" by eating them, telling her they were awful.

LOL, I think my store got them all cuz they had tons. I think we will add this to to our veggie rotation purple or green.
That story was crazy, why the hell did he eat them for so long...

Cluizel & DTW, bring yall asses on over & I will hook you up no doubt. Iw ill even prepare other Negro fixin's
Erica C - My rice is simple. 1½ cups of water per cup of rice. We always do 2 cups of rice. I season my water with salt, pepper & olive oil. I combine the rice & let it boil until the water is absorbed & let it set to fluff up. It comes out perfect [almost] perfect every time.
My chicken stripes are fun for me to make. I keep finely minced garlic paste in the fridge (minced to a paste in the food processor with olive oil). You can use cut up skinless boneless breast or chicken tenderloins seasoned to your liking & add like 1-2 spoons of your garlic paste.
Once seasoned lightly dip in flour & drop into your pan of hot ass hell oil. Cook until golden, remove from oil to cool & drizzle honey and or sesame oil over to compliment the garlic flavor.
I also do this same thing for parties but instead of strips I create little chicken bites.
